Scottwood History |
|
|
| Built as early as 1795,
the house once stood on Ironworks Pike in Scott
County. The house
was moved in April 1971, to its present location near Midway, in
Woodford County. The original wings were rebuilt with an
addition to the rear making it a beautiful 9-room country
estate. Thus, the new name of
Scottwood, reflects both the old
and the new locations.
Originally, the
brick Federal was a modest tenant house on a farm and
modernization through the years was minimal. The beautiful
ash floors, the woodwork, the doors and hardware and many
built-in cabinets have survived.

The
setting of the bed-and-breakfast, near the town of Midway, is
perfect for guests looking for a bit of yesterday. Midway was
founded in 1832 and is Kentucky’s first railroad town. A
still-active train tracks is both a centerpiece and a divider
of the tiny town's main shopping district. The
town's fall festival, held the 3rd weekend in September, is an annual event for many
tourists. |

| These days, Midway is a quaint college
town - the home of the state's only female college. It is
town full of antiques shops, restaurants, beautiful historic
homes and some very unique surprises. Be sure to stop for
lunch at one of the lovely restaurants. ( We'll be happy to give
you recommendations. ) |
